Winter Events in Ottertail, MN

Cor PowerSports’s vision for the racing series is based on their foundation of the 3 F’s: Faith, Family and Fun.

It all started in 2009 when the family racing team competed under the name Cor PowerSports, then in 2011 the Cor PowerSports Cross Country Race Series was born. Since then they have hosted numerous races on plowed lakes and groomed trails across the Midwest including Park Rapids, Walker and Naytahwaush, MN and Ironwood, MI.

In 2023, Ottertail, MN became one of their new snowmobile race locations with an abundance of local excitement and support for this fun, family-friendly winter event on Otter Tail Lake with it being the largest lake in the county (with a total of 13,728 surface acres)! With the amount of support from local businesses and the community, Cor Powersports returned to Ottertail in 2025 marking their 14th season of the racing series.

We were greeted that weekend by your typical Minnesota winter elements with freezing temps, high winds, on-and-off snow flurries and incredible sun dogs, but that didn’t stop us from getting outdoors and checking out this exciting winter event. The snowmobile lake race is a 10 mile long track, zig-zagging back and forth with sharp turns and straight-aways for achieving incredible speeds.

There are designated pit and spectator areas cleared of snow at the Pelican Bay Access near Ottertail City where attendees are able to enjoy the racing view from their toasty warm vehicles or along the sidelines, surrounded by the energy and excitement of the racers and pit crews.

The weekend racing schedule includes 9 different heats and classes both Saturday and Sunday, ranging from youth to pro and vintage to sports model sleds. Catch your favorite and warm up with a steaming hot cocoa or find a seat in the Ice Bar hosted by The Otter.
